When we decided to get married we knew we wanted to do it in Malta as it holds a special place in our hearts, but we didn’t know where to start, so I started looking at websites on the internet for wedding planners and came across Maltaweddings.co.uk

I contacted Rosemarie who set up a package for us. I was a bit apprehensive and nervous at first but with regular contact with Rosemarie all that faded away and we decided to book.

We looked at photos of previous weddings Rosemarie had done for ideas and told her the colour scheme and what we liked and Rosemarie sorted it all even though all the legal paperwork was done for the marriage license.

On the 23rd June 2012, we met Rosemarie for the first time in person for our pre-wedding meeting it was as if we had known her for a long time she welcomed us made us feel at ease and was very friendly, we went to Valletta to check all the paperwork then to the Radisson blu st Julian’s where our wedding was being held, we had a look around and went through the plans.

On the 27th June 2012 the day of our wedding arrived waiting for me was a 7 seater white vintage car which was beautiful.

Our wedding ceremony was held by the gazebo area by the side of the sea, as I walked down I was overwhelmed by how beautiful it was decorated with drapes, and chair covers with matching sashes to match my colour scheme.

The reception area was breathtaking up on a balcony overlooking the sea the table set up was again fantastically decorated with a cake and guestbook table.

The waiter service at the Radisson was brilliant and the meals were lovely nothing was to much trouble.

Ben the photographer did an amazing job he made everyone feel comfortable having photos done and did all the requests we asked. (can’t wait to see the pictures)

An Indian wedding comes to life with rich colors, festivities, and customs that have existed for hundreds of years. Here, some of the rituals that are still popular today.

Don’t be afraid to wear a bold color—that will help you fit in with the Indian guests who’ll be dressed in vibrant colors and eye-catching jewelry. If you don’t have a traditional sari or lengha, don’t worry—a jewel-tone dress with a shawl is appropriate too. Brighter is better.

The groom arrives to the ceremony on a decorated white horse. Guests dance around him to the beat of a dhol, an Indian drum. After that, the bride and her family greet the groom, and the couple exchanges floral garlands to wear around their necks to symbolize their acceptance of each other.

For the ceremony, the priest, groom, bride and bride’s parents sit beneath a mandap, a canopy similar to a Jewish chuppah. The ceremony starts off with the kanya daan, in which the bride’s parents give her away. Then the couple joins hands and circles around a small, enclosed fire (the Agni) in a ritual called the mangal phera.

Couples intending to have a wedding outside their country have to go through the same procedures as if they are administering the sacrament in their own country. They have to follow this procedure:

Go to your local Parish Priest, i.e. the Parish Priest where you live. He will then guide you through the normal procedures, provide instruction and fill the prenuptial forms which are then sent by your Church marriage office to the Church marriage office in Malta.

We will then send you some forms which you have to send back duly filled along with the documents requested. These documents have to reach us from 3 months up to at least 6 weeks before the wedding.

We will then proceed to discuss your wedding arrangements, where we can offer to assist with booking the bridal car, arrange for flowers, book photographer, arrange music, and if you are travelling alone ask someone to witness your wedding as well if need be. These are just the basic services  and we will be able to assist you with an array of other services as needed.

Once you get to Malta, you will need to meet with the priest prior to your ceremony. We also normally suggest to make arrangements for a short rehearsal which will help a lot to settle the nerves.

Aneeka and Rishi’s wedding was a beautiful celebration where two families became one. Friends and family from different countries traveled to Malta to share in this joyous occasion. The smiles and tears of joy were abundant throughout the festivities.
