Jain wedding ceremonies carry their unique customs and rituals that distinguish them from other Indian weddings. Though Jainism is a minority religion in India, it is deeply rooted in rich traditions and practices. Here are some notable Jain wedding traditions:

Pre-Wedding Rituals:

1. Labh Mandap: A gathering where the bride’s family presents gifts to the groom’s family as a gesture of goodwill and acceptance.
2. Laghvanu: A ritual where the groom’s family offers gifts, such as clothes and jewelry, to the bride.

Wedding Ceremony:

1. Var Ghoda: Similar to the Baraat in Hindu weddings, the groom arrives at the wedding venue on a beautiful white horse along with the Barati (groom’s procession) and his family and friends.
2. Varmala Ceremony: The couple exchanges floral garlands, known as Varmala, which symbolize their acceptance of each other and their commitment to marriage.
3. Mangal Pheras: The couple performs Mangal Pheras, where they take seven rounds around the holy fire while reciting sacred vows.
4. Granthi Bandhan: The bride and groom tie their garments together as a symbol of unity.
5. Saptapadi: Like many Hindu weddings, the couple takes seven steps together around the sacred fire, signifying their partnership, friendship, and mutual responsibilities.

Post-Wedding Rituals:

1. Kanyadaan: The bride’s father gives her away to the groom, symbolizing the trust and responsibility placed upon him to take care of her.
2. Ashirvada: Blessings are bestowed upon the couple by elders and family members for a prosperous and harmonious married life.
3. Vidai: The bride bids farewell to her family, and a tearful departure takes place as she leaves her parental home to start a new life with her husband.
